I plan to update it to a newer version soon and that update should bring in a bunch of new word senses for many words (or more accurately, lemma). Actor Omar Chaparro snags a Cape Cod-style home in. Special thanks to the contributors of the open-source code that was used in this project: the UBY project (mentioned above), and express.js.Ĭurrently, this is based on a version of wiktionary which is a few years old. Jason George was born on 9 February 1972 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA. Jason George and his wife, poet and author Vandana Khanna, moved into the 3,400-square-foot home nine years ago. I simply extracted the Wiktionary entries and threw them into this interface! So it took a little more work than expected, but I'm happy I kept at it after the first couple of blunders. The researchers have parsed the whole of Wiktionary and other sources, and compiled everything into a single unified resource. That's when I stumbled across the UBY project - an amazing project which needs more recognition. Manager George is represented by APA, TalentWorks, Management 360, and Morris Yorn Build Athletic Height 5 ft 9½ in or 176. However, after a day's work wrangling it into a database I realised that there were far too many errors (especially with the part-of-speech tagging) for it to be viable for Word Type.įinally, I went back to Wiktionary - which I already knew about, but had been avoiding because it's not properly structured for parsing. This caused me to investigate the 1913 edition of Websters Dictionary - which is now in the public domain. I initially started with WordNet, but then realised that it was missing many types of words/lemma (determiners, pronouns, abbreviations, and many more). The dictionary is based on the amazing Wiktionary project by wikimedia. And since I already had a lot of the infrastructure in place from the other two sites, I figured it wouldn't be too much more work to get this up and running. I had an idea for a website that simply explains the word types of the words that you search for - just like a dictionary, but focussed on the part of speech of the words. Both of those projects are based around words, but have much grander goals. For those interested in a little info about this site: it's a side project that I developed while working on Describing Words and Related Words. Like other stories, spikes are estimated, implemented and demonstrated. Their purpose is to gain the knowledge necessary to reduce the risk of a technical approach, better understand a requirement, or increase the reliability of a story estimate. Defined initially in Extreme Programming (XP), spikes represent activities such as exploration, architecture, infrastructure, research, design, and prototyping. Much of the agile varieties actually encourage you do things without knowing everything. My experience has been that teams tend to use Spikes as a way to thoroughly create specifications (old way). If so, conversations occur with PO to rethink. If the sprint backlog needs to be changed, you determine if that change endangers the sprint goal. Remember, the Dev Team forecasts a sprint backlog based on what they know at the time of planning. If they uncover something during the sprint, they inspect and adapt. By doing this I have found that they want far less Spikes and will instead lean on making stories more focused (or smaller if you prefer) so that any unknowns that are encountered can be dealt with as the information is found. And that only happens if there is something that is blocking the team from being able to understand something in the Product Backlog. Instead, I encourage them to put Spikes directly into the Sprint Backlog. I encourage my teams to not put Spikes in the Product Backlog. Suctioning requires the use of a microsuction tool to vacuum the buildup. Irrigation is a cleansing method that involves inserting warm water into your ear canal to clear excess wax away, and removing loosened wax particles with a forceps delivery or other medical instrument. These are typically done during an office visit ,” according to Dr. “There are many different ways to remove earwax, including irrigation and suction. How Does Earwax Removal Work?Īudiologist and Forbes Health Advisory Board member Amy Sarow, Au.D., suggests that “for the average person, the ear is shaped so that gravity helps any dead skin, cerumen or other debris to naturally migrate out of the ear without additional assistance.” When natural earwax regulation isn’t enough, the excess buildup requires external removal methods. “For patients with tympanic membrane perforation or a patent ear (PE) tube, use of peroxide will be quite painful.” While the removal method isn’t too far-fetched compared to other techniques (e.g., ear candling), it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution that’s safe for everyone. “Hydrogen peroxide is perfectly safe, as long as there is no hole in the eardrum,” she says. But what does pediatric otolaryngologist Nicole Aaronson, M.D., have to say about this method of removal? The wax supposedly drains with the peroxide when you tip the liquid-filled canal toward the ground, TikTokkers claim. The aforementioned TikTok trend involves tilting your head to the side over a towel, filling your ear canal to the brim with hydrogen peroxide and letting the peroxide fizzle before repeating the process with your other ear. Now, experts have their hands full yet again with the trending removal videos circulating the web. Studies have already debunked the myth that it’s good to stuff Q-tips down your ear canal to eliminate excess wax (which we’ll explain later). As a rule of thumb, it’s always best to take medical advice from a licensed practitioner over any influencer-someone with valid credentials, such as a degree or practitioner’s license. The social media platform often showcases non-medical professionals giving medical advice, but with little scientific backing. User-generated TikTok tutorials are a different ballgame. Some viewers have admitted to being fascinated by the process in video comments, and seeing it professionally done on camera may also show them how to safely clean their ears. The most legitimate ones show a medical specialist performing the procedure. If you do a quick YouTube search on the procedure, you’ll see scores of removal videos populate in the search results. Recorded earwax removals fall into the category of oddly satisfying content. The Forbes Health editorial team is independent and objective. However, these sections are a bit too plentiful in comparison to the sandbox levels: They compose about half of the campaign, while a third would have been more than enough already. This makes these sections retain that sense of variable, custom gameplay that often disappears to the background when you have to fight aliens. This is mostly because, unlike in that game, the linear levels still contain tons of Korean soldiers for you to battle, instead of just aliens. These sequences mostly come down to frantic shooting action and will demand more of you than the linear sections featured in the original. Warhead solves this issue by adding some more linear, heavily action-based levels. If there was anything negative to be said about the non-linear gameplay of the first installment, it's that it occasionally took the pace out of the gameplay. Another level, in which you have to infiltrate an airfield controlled by the North Koreans, might be the very best level you'll see in either Crysis game, seeing as the map size and variety allow for a huge amount of memorable battle sequences. One particular section partially takes place at a holiday resort, allowing the player to sneak from one beach house to another, having plenty of cover to silently eliminate his enemies one by one. The stealth works perfectly once again, so those who prefer to sneak through levels without being seen will have an exceptionally good time with some of Warhead's levels, as the non-linear ones easily rank up there with some of Crysis's very best levels. The first few levels in particular are incredibly open-ended and allow for a wide range of different playstyles and approaches. Warhead offers us the same varied, smart gameplay as the original game. That does not mean, however, that the gameplay is in any way dumb or simplistic. Some may find Warhead's story a bit too unexciting and cheesy for their liking, but it blends in perfectly with the bombastic, explosive character of the gameplay. While these cutscenes don't showcase any character traits that are in any way surprising, it does make Psycho a much more interesting and likeable protagonist than Nomad, who didn't seem to have much of a personality at all. Unlike its predecessor, which had a similar, cheese-tastic story, Warhead is laden with third person cutscenes that provide Psycho's character with some depth. The story itself is the typical over-the-top, uncompromising action movie stuff: Psycho has to chase a sadistic North Korean general and recover the remains of a deceased alien before it is shipped back to North Korea for reverse engineering. Like in the first game, Psycho is a stereotypical enfant terrible, a defiant yet charming blowhard that often bends the rules but gets away with it because, in the end, he always gets the job done. In Warhead, we actually get to see what happened there. In the original game, Psycho was one of Nomad's team members, that went to explore the other side of the island. Only one year later, developer Crytek released Crysis Warhead, a standalone expansion pack that, while short, offers some of the finest moments in the young franchise.Ĭrysis Warhead tells the same story as the original game, but instead of sticking with Nomad, the protagonist from the first game, we now follow Psycho, the bigmouthed Brit that functioned as NPC in the first game. The stealth actually worked, the AI was impressive (though not perfect) and nearly every level was a huge playground with limitless possibilities. More importantly, the game provided gamers with intelligent, non-linear gameplay that did not only make the jungle a joy to look at, but also fun to play in. A vast jungle environment was brought to life with cutting edge technology, neat artistic direction and lots of attention to detail. The 2007 PC exclusive Crysis amazed many gamers with its fantastic visuals. Some manufacturers perform special processing on synthetic fiber or use a mixture of synthetic fiber and animal hair to create brushes (“resable brushes,” etc.) that approximate the feel of brushes made purely from animal hair.īrushes also come in many tip sizes (with larger sizes having higher product numbers) and shapes (such as flat and round) designed for different painting applications. Less expensive brushes have tips made of synthetic fibers such as nylon and are better suited for acrylic paints. In addition to being incredibly flexible, oil paint brushes made of Siberian weasel hair have tightly formed tips and hold paint extremely well. The most prized type of sable hair for oil painters comes from the Siberian weasel (kolinsky), a marten native to Siberia and northeastern China. Soft-hair brushes use hair from animals like sables (martens and other members of the weasel family), squirrels, horses, bulls, and raccoon dogs, but there are also soft-hair brushes made of nylon and other synthetic fibers. Finely processed (bleached), high-quality hair is slightly amber-colored and very flexible. Most of the pig hair used in coarse-hair brushes is produced in China, with the most highly regarded varieties coming from the Chongqing area. The tips of these brushes usually have two to three split ends, which help retain paint. Commonly made from pig hair, coarse-hair brushes have hard, thick bristles that boast high elasticity and durability. Soft-hair brushes, which are more flexible and hold paint well, are suited to painting light strokes and adding finer details without making the brushstrokes stand out. Brushes with coarse hair have a firm touch, making them good for filling, applying thick coatings, and leaving visible traces of brushstrokes in the work. The fine tips are made of either coarse or soft hair. With fine tips made of various types of animal hair and a diverse range of shapes and sizes, the many oil paint brush varieties available give artists the ability to draw different line shapes and paint in an array of styles. Oil paint brushes have fine tips that mix well with oil and let artists take advantage of the viscosity, transparency, and other unique qualities of oil paint. There are 17 Asus routers that support the AiMesh tool and can automatically create a mesh network topology to fill a home with wireless data. Only an 802.11n or ac router will do.įinally, Asus AiMesh routers can link together to create a mesh network on their own. Do the math: If you have a 100-Mbps connection and the extender is limited to a peak of 11 or 54 Mbps, you'll likely be wasting most of your bandwidth with an older router. If so, chances are that you can indeed use your old router as an extender.īe careful with routers from the 802.11b and g eras they won't work well, because they have a lower maximum bandwidth, which creates bottlenecks in your network. See if the router can use open-source firmware (like DD-WRT). If the router doesn't support running as a repeater or an extender using the manufacturer's firmware, there's another way. If you have an old router sitting around, check with the manual to make sure the device can be converted into an extender or a repeater, and get specific instructions. If you don't have one or something similar (like an R6700 or R6900), you can get a used one for about $20 online. The general process for other routers is similar but not exactly the same. |
